And so it is afoot!  If you’re new to the area and awestruck by what is amassing alphabetically with this seemingly abstract #atozchallenge absurdity (I assure you it is awesome), then allow me to alleviate any ambiguity.

The A-to-Z Challenge is an annual affair started by a guy named Arlee Bird and put on for the amusement of the audience and to form an alliance among all us blog folks around the globe. Join in or follow along, there are over 1600 blogs participating this year.  A letter a day, all April, Sundays excluded except today for it is April 1 and what would this challenge be if it started on April 2? Please.

I’ll keep the posts short and turn off comment word verification so you can pop in and say hi and race off to the next blog.

And now that it is all abundantly apparent, I give you today’s word:

Absquatulate
ab-SKWOCH-uh-layt
verb: To flee, to leave without warning

Just say it aloud a few times…  Wouldn’t it be strange to travel back in time to when words like absquatulate were used? I can imagine it ringing through the hallowed halls of the courtrooms of yore.

“Your Honor, I would like to call my next witness to testify but she has absquatulated to points unknown.”

I hope you’ll stick around as I try to find some fun and obscure words to share with you.

My 2011 post: A for Aprosexia

Today’s photo: Your reflection –My friend Wendy posted this other April photography challenge, #photoadayapril and I’m going to see if I can do this as well. I just snapped this one of me and thought it was funny to see my numbah-one-fan captured as well.

And finally – the WINNER from last week’s giveaway of BREAK by Hannah Moskowitz is:

Joshua!

Congratulations my friend, you entered each of my book contests and I am so glad your number finally came in. You should go buy a lottery ticket!  Send your mailing address to me at oflynn-at-gmail and I’ll send it off to you soon.

    1. That is where the most fun is! You should use it the next time you run into someone you don’t want to speak to. So sorry, I really have to absquatulate RIGHT NOW! And run off. LOL!! I can totally see it.

    1. Hi Duncan, thank you for stopping by! I’m excited to see what others are going to do for the month. Some are following themes and others not. With as many blogs as we have this year, it is certain to be a mixed bag.

  1. You know, I did absquatulate for a lottery ticket the other day. Unfortunately, I didn’t win the $640million on Friday. But I did get a book! And now, excuse me while I absquatulate once again for parts known.

    1. Matthew at the QQQE is doing a word a day, too. That is a great word, but doubtful I’d incorporate into my daily speech.
I like the picture a day post, too.
      Happy blogging, Corinne.

    2. Welcome Ciara! Glad you liked the word. :)

That’s great Susan. This will be my 2nd year of a word a day. We’ll see what I can find. Already have B, and it’s a funny one.

  2. I STILL can’t pronounce it….LOL! Great first A to Z post.

I’m doing flash fiction, words picked at random, photos found to inspire, then max of 10 sentences and min of 100 words. I love that there are so many different approaches to the A to Z.

BTW, I’m picking out one commenter at random and adding them to my list to follow. Too many to do otherwise…

  3. “Oh, oh, I see! Running away, eh? You yellow bastards! Come back here and take what’s coming to you! I’ll bite your legs off!”

Great word, will have to see if I can slip it into my novel. I like the idea of people having to sneak off to find a dictionary mid-sentence :D It’s much better than what I usually want to say at that point…CHEESE IT!

  4. You made me go look at my movie shelf to make sure I hae Month Python’s Quest for the Holy Grail because that picture reminded me of how much I love that movie. May have to watch it tonight while writing.
