Noun: the rumbling and gurgling noise made by the movement of gas through the intestines.

Welcome A-to-Zers!

Yesterday I shared with you a photo that included my dog, Maisy, staring at me as if I might evaporate before her eyes. We have two dogs, and this is a recent shot of the other in my office.  Meet Clancey:

A Clancey in the Sun

This fabulous dog hangs out wherever I happen to be, and when he sleeps I get to enjoy a veritable chorus of borborygmus (borborygmi?) from the old leather chair.  The sounds range from tiny high-pitched squeaks, to the surprising bursts that should wake him but do not, to the elongated bass-tone burbles that sound as if there is a raucous meeting of amoeba going on somewhere inside his belly. Gratefully, the cause of his borborygmus remains contained (for the most part) within the confines of his body, and he is, therefore, always welcome in my vicinity.

My 2011 B Post: B for Believers

Today’s photo: Color – When I read today’s #photoadayapril prompt “color”, I immediately thought of this photo, taken last summer of my first ever batch of peach jam. The kids call it “peach amazing” because it is just so yummy. I am down to my last little jar.  :)

  1. Ah we had a dog that used to do that when I was younger his name was baby (because he acted like one most of the time). Your post brings back so many lovely memories, so sweet, and you have taught me something new also. :-) Jess

    1. Thanks Donna, I see you are traveling the USA in an RV!! I have dreams of doing this. We rented one and went from CO to CA for a family trip (4 kids and hubby) and it really appealed to me to live so freely. Would love to know your favorite place to visit.

  2. Hi Clancy, you’re lovely. I have a husband with a similar problem. Fortunately he also contains it but our old dog was not so sociably responsible and we regularly needed gas masks to sit and watch the telly. Loved him though… very much.

  3. A-Z explorer… :) Love learning new obscure words! Especially when they relate to dogs. Now. Whats the name for that sound they make when they snore through their lips and it startles them awake? Then they try to act all cool…

Beautiful jam too! looks really tasty!

    Saffron Wine

  4. I wish I could lay around like that dog. I’m not a fan of peach, but that looks amazing. Probably because I love the orangish color.
