*checks calendar to make sure it is actually Thursday* And yes, I’ve made that mistake before. ;)

Greetings! I always feel this strange angst whenever I step away from my blog, as if there is some dark Minister of Blogging who will come along and smite me for not holding my own. Do you ever feel like that? I blame the Bronx nuns from my Catholic School upbringing for the self-imposed guilt.

I went looking for an image to use for today’s theme “Restart” and discovered that RESTART is actually the name of a pop boy-band out of Brazil. Who knew? Don’t they look like a faux-band made up for a movie? Like the Wiggles meets That Thing You Do? Doesn’t each of them look like a celebrity made up to be a Brazilian boy-band member?

I keep thinking Orlando Bloom for the guy on the left, and Steven Tyler for the dude in the glasses. Right? Can you see it? I have yet to cast the other two young men, suggestions welcome. Although the guy on the right is channeling Sean Penn as Jeff Spicoli at the mo. Anyway… on to today’s Haiku.

Every day. The chance.
Let go. Release heavy past.
Restart. And restart.

I enjoy blogging and LOVE connecting with the blog world, but sometimes this sister needs to take a break. What have I been up to?  Well…

WRITING: I’m trying my damnedest to stick with my schedule and get my edits completed on my novel. This has taken such a long time to complete but I would be remiss if I ignored all the growth and learning that took place over the course of writing and editing this book. I’ve thought about shelving this one so many times, but I can’t let it go yet.

READING: I’m almost done with BLACKBIRDS by Chuck Wendig. If you enjoy his blog, you’re going to love this book. BLACKBIRDS is a can’t-put-down urban fantasy that wastes no words in getting to the dark and bloody meat of young Miriam’s battle with fate and her own psychic demons. One of those books that clings to your brain with long curly talons. The kind that dig in.  Click the links… go get it.

LISTENING: Lately I am on Spotify listening to Strict Joy (live version) by Swell Season. On my list of things to do before I die: Front row for The Frames in Ireland somewhere (if they ever tour again, please tour again!) some day featuring Marketa Irglova for some gems from Swell Season.

Otherwise, around there parts there has been a little camping, pool lounging, nonprofit event making, mountains visiting, calendar unbooking, words with friends playing, drawsome drawing, sporadic tweeting, major decompressing, down hunkering, crystal meditating, yoga contemplating, grindstone nosing, and one night of rather awesome giant moose watching.

What have you been up to this summer?

  1. I restart everyday! And yes, I do feel punishment awaits me when I don’t keep to my blogging schedule. Simply because it’s one of my goals, and I’m letting myself down. Then I stop. Take a breath. And move forward. I love your haiku. I’m going to write it down and post it on the wall in my writing space. Thanks for sharing!

  2. You’re always so busy, Corinne. I don’t know how you do it all.
I wish I could spend more time at home this summer. There’s been too much away time: Idaho, Phoenix, and Denver next week. By the time it’s all over and I can hunker down, school will be starting again. Another kind of restart that I’m not quite prepared for yet.
    Have a great weekend.
