There. I said it out loud. I’ve made the decision to publish my first book, THE EXPATRIATES, independently and see what happens.

I have long been a supporter of indie publishing, and have many friends whose books have passed through my kindle and my hands thanks to indie publishing. I’ve decided that it’s time to add my book to the great TBR pile out there. So you can read it, and hopefully enjoy yourself in the process.

Publishing is changing so quickly anymore, and most of these changes are to the benefit of the ones creating the books. This is so super exciting! But there is still a lot of work to do and OMG a ton of stuff to learn. But I’m up to the task and I’m eager to make this happen, so I hope to see it through to a beautiful book at the end.

I hope you’ll follow along with me as I make my publishing dreams come true!

THE EXPATRIATES – Coming Soon 2014!  (yay!)

Seventeen-year-old Jim Wales can communicate with animals, but his animal mind-tap ability isn’t why he lives with a traveling carnival. Instead, his family’s been hiding him there since he was little, when they learned someone was hunting all the Scholars. And Jim has no idea.

When a falcon arrives with a message from Jim’s not-dead father from their not-destroyed homeland, Jim’s whereabouts are discovered and Jim watches as his brother is murdered in his place.

On the run with a strange glass map and a single coin, Jim finds himself racing to reclaim the father he thought he’d lost, plotting to avenge his brother, and finally discovering the truth about who he is.  But he soon learns that going home isn’t the same as being safe. And that trust is everything.

Thanks for reading! I can’t wait to share a cover and a release date! But you guys… this is totally happening and I am *stoked*!

  1. I’ll be following your journey! I’ve been toying with the idea but I’ll admit that I’m extremely intimidated by the idea of trying to format everything myself. Good luck, and kudos for taking the plunge! :-)

    1. Hi Lisa!
It is daunting, to say the least. But I am told that formatting isn’t as hard as it seems and you can also hire people to do it without going broke. I’ll share what I learn and let you know.
